Blog Tour - Review - Static by S.K. Anthony

Kevin Pierce is a teleporter, a ladies’ man, and a loyal friend. Or so he thought.
As a genetically altered Luminary, he helps the government bring down some of the most dangerous criminals. Not very challenging if you have his special abilities. But when a group of rebel Luminaries attacks his Organization the fight for survival begins.
One shattering event after another tests the depth of his relationships, his sanity, and his powers. Emotionally torn, Kevin must choose carefully where his loyalty lies. In the middle of all the unexpected chaos he gets the biggest shock of his life when he’s faced by a betrayal he never saw coming. Angry, injured, and ready to even the score, Kevin goes Static . . .

I just finished the book a few minutes ago and I have so much to say. My whole body is literally humming with so much energy from what just happened in the book. It was CRAZY!!!! I think I'm in shock. And I'm sorry that my review will probably be a rambling mess but that's what the book did to me, in the best way possible of course!

It was so long since I'd read Kinetic that I thought I wouldn't remember a lot of the principal characters but S.K. Anthony had a nice way of subtly dropping hints here and there to make us remember what happened in the previous book. I would just like to pop in and say that she is an amazing author! And I've conversed with her through email a few times and I can actually see now that Annie is definitely a version of Anthony. Her personality definitely shines through. But this book was all about Kevin, and he is quite the fellow.

Kevin was funny, arrogant, hot and kind, he was basically everything I like in a character and I'm so happy I was given the chance to read his book. I'm usually apprehensive about reading books from the male character's point of view but it was perfect, S.K. Anthony captures the male voice with just the right amount of male pride that it's hard to believe that the author is a woman.

The whole concept of Luminaries is pretty amazing, I've mentioned this in my previous review for Static but in a world where we're focused on vampires, aliens, ghosts and werewolves, it's so refreshing to see a species that's entirely made up. S.K. Anthony literally created a whole new universe in her head and we have to give her major props for that. It takes some serious creative juices to come up with new worlds and S.K. Anthony has not only come up with a new idea but its a great idea! I love the Luminaries.

This book was written with precision and love. There was never a dull moment and at the same time it wasn't always fast paced and loaded with action. It had just the right amount of sugar, spice and everything nice. I liked that I was getting frustrated with Kevin's choices at one point because I knew that it was happening for a reason and I was so right! Yaay! The book delivered some heart wrenching moments and I still can't believe that it happened because I was hoping that something like that wouldn't happen. This book is like her previous book in the sense that it was amazing and still had the Anthony essence but it also wasn't, it was so different in terms of character representation and story development and just the emotions I was feeling in general were so amplified. S.K. Anthony really nailed the second book. She has grown so much as a writer and I'm so proud to have been a part of her journey for both books.

I genuinely enjoyed reading every chapter in this book. S.K. Anthony really knows how to make a girl laugh out loud one minute and then gasp in shock the other. But most of all she knows how to make me cry and still want to keep reading. I hope everyone reads this book because it is worth reading. I love the Luminaries and I loved that we got to see every one's lives progress so much.
