Blog Tour - The Devil's Tattoo by Nicole R. Taylor

The Devil's TattooThe Highway to Hell or the Stairway to Heaven?

Zoe Granger picked up her first guitar the day her heart was smashed into a billion pieces. It was a way to keep her mind off her inevitable downward spiral, but music soon became her escape. She's been burned too many times to tell and is just happy to coast through life, never putting herself out there. That's until her best friend Dee suggests they start a band and suddenly she finds herself not just a part of it, but fronting the whole outfit.

They call themselves The Devil's Tattoo and when they release their debut EP, it rockets to the top of the charts and it's like an overnight fairytale. Contracts, photo shoots, royalties and interviews are heaped onto the shy Zoe and it's like she's finally found her place. Then comes the phone call that changes everything. They've been asked to co-headline a tour with one of the hottest bands of the moment, The Stabs and Zoe will never be the same again.

Will Strickland is one fourth of the hottest indie rock band to ever grace the airwaves. He's the bass player in The Stabs, hot as hell and could have his pick of any girl that flings herself at him. But he's only got eyes for Zoe and she has no idea why he'd bother. She's got one hell of a trust issue and an attitude to boot and Will seems to be the one who wants to tame her, but is he game enough?

The Devil's Tattoo and The Stabs go on the road and it's either going to be a highway to hell or a stairway to heaven. Only time will tell who will come out on top and Zoe's determined to do it without getting her heart broken… again.

I 'm so happy I signed up to take part in the book tour because I loved this book! It was fused with just the right amount of intense. This wasn't exactly a typical good girl meets bad boy type of story. it also wasn't the typical boy saves girl from wallowing in her self pity kind of story. Instead it's more of a combination of the two with a lot of surprises in the way.

Zoe was a really different character. Just when I thought I knew her she drops this sort of bomb that dissolves all your theories. But like all good authors, I was still able to connect with Zoe. Maybe her moodiness spoke to me. After I found out what really happened to her I was so in awe of her ability to live with her scars both physical and psychological. I loved how she knew that events changed her and how she was able to accept that and still live her life. Events however horrific aren't as painful as trying to move on and I loved how Zoe learned to embrace herself.

Will... OH GOD!!! Picture the hottest band guy you can think of and I guarantee that Will Strickland will totally top him. Although he is depicted as a bad boy he is actually not. He was super sweet. Oops sorry spoiler alert! But sometimes I found Will a little weird. I couldn't really connect with him all that much.

One person who wowed me was Dee. He was the bestest ever!!! He was so funny and kind humorous and caring and I realize that these words are just synonyms but he was after Zoe the highlight of the story. He was the perfect mix of sweet and spice. Get it? He was nice but he was also a super hot guitar player who played awesomely.

I loved all the Australian bits in the book. I didn't know words like arvo and doona existed. At first I thought they were spelling errors but then I just decided to define the words on iBooks and they mean afternoon and duvet respectively. I literally died laughing, but seriously I learnt so many new words. And Nicole's style of writing is actually pretty amazing. Very few authors are able to successfully inject humor into an intense storyline and Nicole does that with ease.  I can't wait to read Dee's story!

P.S. I loved the band names! They were so cool!!!
